About Us
It's funny to think back to my childhood. I was arachnophobic as many children are. I remember really clearly going into my fathers' garden shed and feeling overwhelming fear when confronted with a few huge spiders on the ceiling. This fear continued into adulthood. I was never a 'typical' girl who played with dolls. I was to be found in the garden looking under rocks and collecting insects I'd find. I loved all types of animals, but of course didn't know how to care for them back then. It took a long time for my parents to allow me to have any type of pet. I kept tropical fish as my very first pets, and really enjoyed them. While living with my parents, I was also able to have a dwarf hamster, and later, guinea pigs. I threw myself into researching their care and how to keep them to be best of my ability, this was an obsession for the young me. When I moved into my own place, I kept many different animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, cats, and chinchillas. I bred many of these animals and gained a wealth of experience. My very first reptile was a beautiful leopard gecko called Solar. He was the beginning of my love of exotics, that was over 20 years ago now and I still remember him fondly. Since then I've kept many exotics and can now say that I have a well-balanced knowledge base, as well as many friends within the exotics community. I did training with the Cambridge Cavy Trust, and volunteered for the SPCA. I was a dog groomer, and was a capable horse rider when I was younger. My whole life has been centred around animals.
I had NEVER considered that I could overcome my chronic fear and become a spider lover!
In 2021, a friend of mine got a jumping spider as a pet. The photos were just adorable and I lept into researching once more.
The first spiders arrived later in 2021 after a lifetime of arachnophobia and things changed forever. Fear can absolutely be transformed! I can now proudly say that I love spiders!
I married my wonderful husband Richard in July 2025, 7 years after we first met. He is also a huge animal lover and is quickly gaining knowledge and experience as he helps me care for our huge animal family.
We want to spread the love of exotic animals and provide education on their care.
Plans may change over time, please check the "what's cooking" page for this years' breeding projects.
